Job Description

Job Title: Lead Composite Technician

Position Type: Full Time

Reports to: Field/Operations Manager

Supervises Others: Yes

Overview:

This position is for individuals possessing strong leadership skills with 5+ years of wind industry experience (preferably blade composite experience). You will be counted on to manage all your crew’s activities in the field and play a pivotal role in Pronto providing the highest quality service.

 

This position requires being on the road for 8-week periods, team/workflow management, working with and around fiberglass and resins, operating power tools, rigging man baskets, and preforming repairs that meet industry standards. You will also be expected to balance primary job duties with other assigned jobs as directed by management, moving to available work as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage self and others

  • Use managerial and leadership skills to ensure that the team meets company objectives

  • Aid in the training and development of your team

  • Supervise and aid in repairs, ensure the completion of all documentation, and manage crew’s inventory

  • Ensure that high quality photo documentation of all repair steps is provided

  • Communicate with sites on scheduling and endure that projects meet company deadlines

  • Safety-adhere to all safety standards for self & others

  • Quality-meet or exceed customer expectations

  • Productivity-work efficiently & effectively

  • Housekeeping-maintain a clean and orderly work area

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent

  • Trade/Composite school preferred

  • 3+ years of blade composite experience

  • Experience with the safe operation of suspended platforms (Spider, Sky Climber, etc.) is preferred. 

General:

  • Physical Requirements-must be physically capable of lifting/handling 50-75lbs and climb a 60-120m ladder on a frequent basis; kneeling, crouching, stooping, twisting & bending required, standing on your feet for extended periods of time

  • Valid Driver’s License–experience pulling a 16’+ trailer preferred

  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background check

  • Work well within team dynamic

  • Familiarity with the proper LOTO procedures of various model turbine platforms. 

  • Ability to identify composite damages and knowledge of the appropriate terminology for the reporting process. 

  • Knowledge of advanced composites and blade structure

  • Ability to lead a team

Skills:

  • Interpersonal/professional communication; both verbal and written

  • Possess the necessary managerial skills to direct a team and allocate resources in a way that meets company objectives

  • Detail oriented with a foundational knowledge of composite repair processed that would allow for on-site quality assurance

  • Strong work ethic and delegation skills

  • Possess basic computer skills, familiarity with online documentation, and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proficient in workflow management (i.e. organization, team efficiency, pre-job assignments, etc.).

  • Ability to read work procedures and instruct others on their processes

Work Environment:

Must be comfortable working in proximity to moderate/loud noise as well as high/low temperature & humidity. Varying schedule based on weather, which may include nights and weekends.
